In almost every line of work and every sport, success requires hard work and dedication. That is not unique to the stock show industry. What is unique is that in order to be successful, showing requires compassion, selflessness, consistency, courage and commitment. It teaches patience and humility. It is a reminder that you're not always in control, but that you are in control of how you react. It's not always fair. It's not always guaranteed. But that's life. It's a competitive sport. Not everyone wins. But it is an equal opportunity sport that everyone can play. Confidence is gained. Conviction is formed. The ability to effectively articulate thoughts and ideas is learned. Difference of opinion is permitted and, most importantly, respected. You will meet your best friends in the show ring. Your biggest supporters will be ringside. You will become part of an unexplainable stock show family. It will enhance every professional experience moving forward. The lessons learned are unmatched and invaluable.
The Hill Country Buyers Club started as a group of friends that wanted to support the kids of Burnet County that put so much time and effort into their livestock projects. After some talk it was decided to start a buyers club that would raise money to spent at the premium sale of the Burnet County Livestock Show. The "Hill Country" name was chose to give us the opportunity to expand to other counties in the future.
As an organization we hold events throughout the year as fundraisers with the goal of supporting the 4-H and FFA members of Burnet County and surrounding counties with their livestock projects.
